Breaking soon: exact errors and how to fix them
Platforms retire runtimes, libraries, models and APIs on fixed dates. We reproduce the exact error message before (or as) it starts, from the vendor's own code, and write down the fix with the vendor's source.
- Firebase: Runtime Node.js 20 was decommissioned: Google decommissioned the Node.js 20 runtime for Cloud Functions (Cloud Run functions) on 30 October 2026, so the Firebase CLI refuses to deploy functions that still target it.
- Google Cloud Python: non-supported Python version (3.10): Python 3.10 reached end of life in October 2026, and Google's Python client libraries (google-api-core and everything built on it: google-cloud-storage, bigquery, pubsub, firestore and more) stopped supporting it a week later.
- OpenAI: "The model … has been deprecated" or "Model not found" after a shutdown: OpenAI has shut down the model your request names, so the API refuses it.
